Australian Rieslings, Pinot Blanc, Grüne Veltliner & Co
(AWMB/February 2004) - Austria’s wine producers celebrate another success.
During a recent Austrian tasting in London, even an Australian sommelier had to admit how much better Austrian Rieslings are than Australian ones. One syllable can make quite a difference! Austria’s white wines, first and foremost Grüner Veltliner, show according to wine guru Jancis Robinson once again that they can stand up to the most mythic white Burgundies. “Our international focus on sommeliers and the media is paying off handsomely”, says a delighted Michael Thurner, Director of the Austrian WineMarketing Service.
