Again a good year
Austrian wines have established themselves among the very finest in the world. Grüner Veltliner, Riesling & co have repeatedly scored highly in international tastings, and have gained friends and admirers in top restaurants and among the best wine dealers. A series of exceptional vintages has done much to aid this phenomenon, and we would like to give you some indication of the characteristics of the 2001 vintage.

A triple treat
Austria has received a great deal of attention for its dry white and sweet wines. It is therefore a particular pleasure to see that the red wines are now also receiving international acclaim. The attached articles from the most recent edition of the Wine Spectator may serve as an indication that even internationally Austrian wines are an attractive proposition in commercial terms.

Apart from their excellent quality, the multiplicity of styles and the marked individuality of Austrian wines also give them their unmistakable profile. The successful synthesis of tradition and innovation practiced in Austria has become an object lesson in renewal and continuity wherever wine is made.

Masters of Wine in Vienna
The International Master of Wine Symposium 2002 (11-13 July) will be held in Vienna. This may be a stroke of luck for our wines, but it is certainly not accidental.

Waltzing Wines
Austrian wine will already be at the centre of attention during the VIEVINUM 2002 fair from 8 to 10 June, during which the country's best producers, as well as some great international names, will attend a great festival of wines. For further information, please contact the AWMB team.
