Pro Wein Düsseldorf 2002 - Austria's Biggest-Ever Representation
Abroad!
(AWMB, March, 2002) -For Austria's wine producers, the
Pro Wein is by far the most important event abroad. More than 160 producers
and dealers from all wine growing regions of the Alpine republic will
participate this year, and 1,300 m² of exhibition space will be devoted
to Austrian wine, a surface area exceeded only by Germany, Italy, and
France.
Everything You Want
The strong participation means that wine lovers will find the very best
of every-thing that is produced in Austria. In terms of value for money,
too, there are plenty of discoveries to be made. Both young and talented
winemakers and modern cooperatives are among the exhibitors. A succession
of five excellent vintages will also add to the pleasure of doing business
with Austrian wine pro-ducers this year.

Those looking for a first impression will find the open tastings at the
general Austrian stand an excellent opportunity to acquaint themselves
with what our country has to offer. Different grape varieties can be tasted
here daily between 10am and 1pm.
| Sunday, (24 March): |
Grüner Veltliner from Lower Austria |
| Monday (24 March): |

| Tuesday (26 March): |
Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. |
The afternoons are dedicated to nobly-sweet "Prädikat"
wines. Every day be-tween 1pm and 6pm the Austrian wine magazine Falstaff
will present interna-tionally renowned wines and winemakers.
Germany: Export Market Number 1
Germany is the most important export partner for the wine nation Austria.
Al-most 230,000 hectoliters, some 8% of the 2000 harvest, were shipped
to Ger-many in 2001. Despite the fact that the volume of wines exported
to our northern neighbour had shrunk slightly against 2000, the value
could be increased by 2% to 23 million Euro. Apart from Grüner Veltliner
& Co Austrian red wines, too, are finding more and more devotees.
